The below poem helps to dispel the myth that Christians should be perfect and/or think they are perfect

When I Say "I Am A Christian"

When I say I am a Christian
I'm not shouting am saved
I'm whispering I get lost!
That is why I chose this way

When I say I am a Christian
don't speak of this with pride
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need someone to be my guide

When I say I am a Christian
I'm not trying to be strong
I'm professing that I'm weak
and pray for strength to carry on

When I say I am a Christian
I'm not bragging of success
I'm admitting I have failed
and cannot ever pay the debt

When I say I am a Christian
I'm not claiming to be perfect
my flaws are too visible
but God believes I'm worth it

When I say I am a Christian
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of heartaches
which is why I seek His name

When I say I am a Christian
I do not wish to judge
I have no authority
I only know I'm loved

He doesn't love
 us for who we are,
 but for Who He is

Why am I a Christian?  Or you could ask:  Why do I breathe and go on each day?  Ever feel like there is something missing in your life?  Not something material, but something "inside."  Every one of us has a soul and a spirit.  There is more to us than the physical body.  We tend to fill up the inside with physical things that make us feel more secure and stable.  But that wears off, and it's back again to being empty.

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son.  In whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of sins."  Colossians 1:13-14

That is how I felt without God - without Jesus.  There is more to God than Himself - there is the son Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  Jesus is the son of God, born to a virgin over 2000 years ago and lived a perfect life, taught the people in that time (and us now through the Bible & a personal relationship) the way to eternal life and the truth of all things, was crucified, and rose again.  When we accept this truth and believe that he died for our sins, we receive a brand new life & life eternal.  We give our burdens over to Him, He takes them and we are free!  He will supply everything for us from that moment on:

"But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."  Colossians 4:19

Imagine your needs being supplied by God, who created this earth, who owns everything therein!

Here are a few verses from the WORD OF GOD - FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  Hebrews 11:1  When someone asks for God to "prove" that He exists by showing them a sign, they are asking from disbelief, without faith.  They believe that if God showed them a sign of some sort, they would believe in Him.  But, that is not faith and trusting in God - which He wants us to do.  Satan himself has seen God face to face.

"But without faith it is impossible to please Him; for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him."  Hebrews 11:6

"Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.  Cleanse your hands, ye sinners, and purify your hearts, ye double minded."  James 4:8  If you draw close to God, He will return the gesture.  We draw nigh through our faith.  As we become closer to God, our faith deepens and our life prospers in all areas.  We must deny and rebuke our sinful natures and turn to Him.

"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.  Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.  Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are acomplished in your brethren that are in the world.  But the God of all grace, who hath called us into His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you."  I Peter 5:6-10
We must give up our prideful nature and cast all our cares on God, who cares for us.  God does not hate us, He is not a mean and cruel God.  It says right in the Bible, in black and white, that He cares for us.  He will make us perfect, establish us, and strengthen us, and settle us.  Who wants this in their lives today?  I think everyone does!

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."  1 John 1:9  We must acknowledge we need God, that we are filthy sinners in His eyes.  When we come to know God's heart and will, sin will be dirty to us.  We will want to flee from it.  The Holy Spirit inside us when we are saved will convict us where we fail.  Then, we turn to Him, acknowledge the sin, ask for forgiveness and He is faithful and just to forgive.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in Him.  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of the life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof, but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."  1 John 15-17  Turn from the world, turn to God - He will provide you with all that you need.  All that you could possibly need - more than our hearts and minds can imagine!  "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."  3 John 1:2

"Ask and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find, knock, and it shall be opened unto you.  For every one that seeketh recieveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."  Matthew 7:7-8

Jesus says:  "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."  Matthew 11:28  Words of comfort and peace from our Heavenly Father.

Way to Salvation . . .

To believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for your sins is the only way to salvation. You must believe it with all your heart. You must realize you are a sinner and can't work good works to get into Heaven.  You must realize you need a Savior.

Here is the "Roman Road to Salvation:"

"For all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."
Roman 3:23

"But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

"But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life."
Romans 6:23

"That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Romans 10:9-10

"For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39

1. Realize you are a sinner and have fallen short of the Glory of God.
2. Believe that Jesus was crucified, died for your sins and was raised from the dead.
3. After you believe that Jesus died for your sins and was
raised from the dead, you will be born again and a new creation.
4. Confess with your mouth, believe in your heart and you will be saved! Pray a prayer to God:

"Dear Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, was crucified and died for my sins then was raised from the dead on the 3rd day. Please wash my sins away and come into my heart. Make me a new creation. I give my life over to you. You are my Lord."

5. Now you are a new creation! It is very important to find a church that believes in and teaches the salvation of Jesus Christ. Find other believers and grow in Christ! Read and study your Bible; pray and you will see a wonderful relationship with Him develop.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His
only begotten Son; that whosoever believeth in
Him should not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16

There once was a question from an unbeliever that goes like this: What if you die and find out there was no God?

And the answer: What if you die and find out there was?
